From the Front:
"The first thing I did when I got my R22 was to test it out by sending a Fender P Bass through a vintage API preamp and then through the R22. I was blown away by its transparency. I was equally excited that I could use it for gain reduction with highly transient material and it retained a smoothness to the signal without touching its harmonic qualities."
"The R22 has a vinyl-like euphonic sound that can take a lot of level and never really collapse the stereo field. I've used it on the drum bus and really enjoyed the way it tamed the cymbals in the stereo drum signals—it still retained 'punch' while doing a fine job correcting the dynamic of the cymbals."
"I also used the R22 on a project I had produced and mixed—'Coping with Killer Bees' by Joe Kidd & The Gash. Some of the issues I dealt with concerning these mixes were lead vocal levels, level relationships between drums and guitars and the overall level of bass from song to song. The R22 allowed me to adjust those relationships in each song with accuracy and an ease of control that I haven't experienced with any other compressor. Oh yeah, and that thrust control is the business!"
