From the Front:
Frequency Recording's construction was only completed last year, and a new JDK R22 stereo compressor is one of owner Richard Fabrizio's most frequently used pieces of gear. Richard says he reaches for the R22 as a two-mix compressor, and for tracking both drums and vocals.
Of the R22, Rich says it "was a great addition to my mixing and tracking chain. I was looking for a fast compressor for my stereo bus and really loved the API 2500's 'thrust' feature. I've found the R22 to work really well on drum overheads and is my first call compressor for vocals. The soft knee setting is great for bass and vocals when tracking a slower ballad type song, too."
Some of the first projects in the new room have included a 12 song full-length mix for smooth jazz artist John Basilile and rhythm section dates for singer/songwriter Ryan Howell. Last month, 60 people attended the official opening event. They were treated to a listening session in the control room and cocktails on the new roof-top patio.
About Frequency Recording:
The 1300 sq. feet studio features sun-lit rooms on the second floor of an old industrial building five minutes from the closest Metro North station. The studio was designed by Chris Harmaty (sonicscoop.com/tag/chris-harmaty) in 2013. The space is now a fantastic new studio for Fabrizio and his crew. The additional 800 sq. feet on the roof is often enjoyed during recording breaks and special events.
