From the Front: "After hearing about the JDK brand I did a little research and discovered what they are all about: hand-crafted, one-at-a-time quality. And it shows. When reading up on the R22, I was excited to find out the compression circuit was the same as the channel compression in the ATI Paragon live consoles. Knowing that these are somewhat legendary consoles, I was certainly excited to hear it in action and I wasn't disappointed. For studios looking for a great clean stereo or a single-channel compressor, I wouldn't recommend anything else in the price range. "The best experience we had was the first time we used it on vocals. We were recording a female vocalist with a Rode K2 going into the R22. As soon as she started singing, it sounded good. I started tweaking some knobs and got great light, clean, smooth compression on her voice. My producer and I just looked at each other and smiled. We had a winner." About ArtiSans Label Studios: Located in musically historic Orange County, California, ArtiSans Label Studios has worked with some of the best up-and-coming bands on the West Coast including The New Limb, Telegram, Rye Douglas and the Echo Sounding, FeelGood and May McDonough. The studio was the brainchild of now studio owners Ryan Prickett, Michael Filson as well as Head Audio Engineer Kyle Griffin, who holds a certificate from the recording arts program at Golden West College and a Bachelor's degree in recording arts from California State University Dominguez Hills. Griffin is also a certified Digidesign Pro Tools Operator. After finding an empty warehouse in 2006, the three friends decided to turn the space into a recording facility. With a lot of hard work, and with the help of some wonderful family members and friends, ArtiSans Label Studios was born a little more than two years later.
